Demeter and Persephone | Greek and Roman Mythology English Language Arts 7-12

Persephone and Demeter in Greek and Roman Mythology — Let's unveil the mysteries. Explore the nature and deeds of the goddess of grain and agriculture from mythology. Demeter, or Ceres, is one of the principal deities of Mount Olympus. Zeus is her brother, and Rhea and Kronos are her parents. She is known as "the barley goddess," — and she is the god of agriculture. She is also attuned to that mystic adaptation of the physical world to the nature of man that makes it possible for the material world to mirror and reflect the varying moods of the human soul. More remotely, she is the goddess of the seashore.
